The Healing Power of Prayer
"Prayer ... wakens the dormant understanding from its dream of life in matter"
There is recorded in the seventh chapter of Luke's Gospel an example of the healing power of prayer. A woman who was well known to be a sinner went to see Jesus while he was at dinner in Simon's house. Discerning prayerfully and with Christly compassion that the woman was deeply penitent, Jesus said to Simon, "Her sins, which are many, are forgiven." Then turning to her, he said, "Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace."
