RADIO PROGRAM No. 373 The Pursuit of True Happiness

SPEAKER: The whole world is reaching out for security, happiness, and the ability to meet life's problems. But how often we look in the wrong direction!

For years our guest searched for happiness and found only disillusionsment and misery, emptiness and confusion. But she found a sure and unfailing way out of all this. I'd like to introduce Mrs. Louann Schafer, of San Francisco, California.

MRS. SCHAFER: I spent some very unhappy years searching for security, companionship, love—all the things people do search for—but everything seemed to lead to frustration. Finally, I found myself with a physical problem that didn't yield to medical treatment. There was a good deal of temperament and emotionalism, and as I grew up there didn't seem to be any stability or guiding rule in my life. I was completely convinced that joy and happiness came from matter, that security came from matter; it never occurred to me that joy came from God, good. As a result I'd be terribly happy one day, depending on people and things; then people and things would disappoint me, and the next day I'd be terribly unhappy.
