THE LAMB OF LOVE
Every Christian Scientist is dedicated to the task of overcoming all evil, in himself and in his own experience. He has consecrated himself to the work of proving, both for himself and for others, the truths of Christian Science—the allness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil.
Evil is truly destroyed only by purely spiritual means. In accomplishing the spiritual purposes of good, one must never use the world's weapons, the means and modes of the carnal or mortal mind. To do so is to acknowledge their power and reality, else we would not use them. And to acknowledge error as real in any phase is in belief to give to that same error power against ourselves.
Out of the pure and uplifted thought which characterizes the inspired Word of the Bible comes the glorious symbolism which portrays the ideal of God as the Lamb —purity, innocency, and inoffensiveness. Neither by force nor by human energy or will is evil to be destroyed, but by self-sacrifice, self-immolation, and spiritual love, the blood of the Lamb. God's presence and power are found in gentleness and holiness, and it is God's love alone which destroys all belief in the reality of sin, disease, and death.
