Twenty-two years ago a physician...

Twenty-two years ago a physician whom I consulted prior to my reading of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, had told me that surgery was the only remedy he could offer for a lump in my breast. But he said: "If I were you, I would not visit a surgeon just now. You see, I'm a bit of a Christian Scientist."

I had heard of Christian Science some years before through a loved sister who had found healing in this blessed religion, but I had never read the textbook. However, the doctor's words made a deep impression on me, and the next day my husband procured a copy of Science and Health. The following Sunday we attended service in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and enrolled our young daughter in the Sunday School. Shortly thereafter we purchased the Christian Science Quarterly, the Christian Science Hymnal, Prose Works of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and subscribed to the periodicals of our great movement.

The precious truth found in our textbook so spiritualized my thinking that with the help of a Christian Science practitioner I was quickly healed of the lump in my breast. At the same time I was healed of a distressing stomach condition of long duration.
