THE PERFECT RULE FOR MEETING HUMAN NEEDS

CHRIST JESUS gave the perfect rule for meeting the human need of food, clothing, shelter, health, and peace. After speaking of the flowers of the field, the fowls of the air, and the folly of fearful thought-taking for the needs of the day, he summarized a portion of his discourse known as the Sermon on the Mount by saying (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." This statement I understand to be the perfect rule for demonstrating the ample provision of divine Love for man.

Christian Science teaches that God is changeless Principle, infinite Mind, Life, Truth, and Love, and that the spiritual dominion taught and practiced by Christ Jesus is available today. One who feels that he is experiencing limited health, limited opportunity, or limited supply might well ask himself : "Do I really believe that God is changeless cause or Principle? Do I accept Him as divine Mind, the only Mind, and seek the understanding of the one Mind which exterminates error? Do I honor Him as divine Love and believe that He tenderly cherishes His offspring?"

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 135) : "There is to-day danger of repeating the offence of the Jews by limiting the Holy One of Israel and asking: 'Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?' What cannot God do?"
