GOD'S DIVINE AND ETERNAL PURPOSE

IN Isaiah we read (14:24, 27), "As I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand." Then these words follow: "For the Lord of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it?" Inasmuch as God has an eternal purpose for man, we naturally desire to know its nature and see it revealed.

God's purpose for man must partake of God's nature. The Bible tells us that God is Spirit, and in Christian Science we understand Spirit to be Mind; therefore, His purpose for us is revealed through spiritual ideas. The Bible also tells us that God is good; then good is His infinite design. God does not know evil. He is never in matter. The good we experience in our daily life is an indication of Him; it is an evidence that His divine plan includes everything needed for our progress.

God is the only cause. Since He is divine, unchanging Principle, there can never be a lapse in His plan or a termination of His divine purpose.
