There are many statements in the Scriptures that reveal the nature of proper prayer. The one which has most clearly spoken to me is the opening sentence of the Twenty-fifth Psalm: "To thee, O Lord, I lift up my soul" [Rev. Stand. Ver.].... Literally, the statement describes only the beginning of prayer—and of worship. But it is the true and right beginning, and it should lead us into the full thing.
