I should like to tell of a healing...
I should like to tell of a healing of grief. For some weeks there was illness in our family, and during that time I clung steadfastly to the truth. I affirmed that man is God's spiritual idea, that he is not material.
I held to a statement from Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 403), "You command the situation if you understand that mortal existence is a state of self-deception and not the truth of being." She also says (ibid., p. 14), "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth." I endeavored to realize that man lives in Spirit, separate and apart from the dream of material life.
When word came that the relative had passed on, I did not for one moment accept the report as being true of man. Instead, I affirmed that the truths that I had been declaring and applying during those weeks were still true. There had been no change. Our dear one was God's idea, forever in Mind, Spirit. His spiritual individuality and identity were still intact.
