HOME AND HEAVEN
Most Christians, while cherishing their human homes, believe that their ultimate home is heaven. What does Christian Science teach its students on this subject, embracing as it does that which is so dear to the human heart?
The writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, make clear that heaven is not to be regarded as a place or a state of consciousness to be reached only by one's passing through the experience of death. In the Glossary of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy defines "heaven" as, "Harmony; the reign of Spirit; government by divine Principle; spirituality; bliss; the atmosphere of Soul" (p. 587). Heavenly bliss is an eternal, omnipresent fact, and spiritual facts are demonstrable.
Christian Science teaches its students to translate everything back into Mind, God, man's original home and heavenly estate. The proof of this prayerful realization, overcoming sense testimony, appears on earth as better human conditions, better health, happier relationships, a home nearer the divine ideal, or heaven.
