"RELEASED FROM MATERIALISM"

"ISRAEL hath not obtained that which he seeketh for" (Rom.11:7). There is a recurring echo of this statement of the Apostle Paul's wherever men have lost touch with the contentment of spiritual riches. There is so much lacking in materialism, so little reward in reliance upon the haphazard ways of fleshly gain, that there must eventually come to all men an awakening to the values of true attainment. Christian Science hastens this awakening, and it shows to its followers the present and constant rewards which deeply satisfy human thought when it is "released from materialism."

Paul continued, "But the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded." All men are in their true selfhood the elect of God, provided for, watched over with love, encompassed in divine plans of perfection. Mankind's great need is to understand this election and act in accordance with it.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 5), "Wholly apart from this mortal dream, this illusion and delusion of sense, Christian Science comes to reveal man as God's image, His idea, coexistent with Him—God giving all and man having all that God gives."
