In 1924 I became interested in Christian Science while serving as a nurse in a Veterans Hospital. One day I had a severe headache. One of the nurses who had begun to study Christian Science came to my room, and seeing that I was in pain she asked me what the trouble was. When I told her, she said, "Man is not matter," and she repeated the first half of the answer to the question, "What is man?" from page 475 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. After she left my room, the headache disappeared, and I was healed.
Later on, when another serious trouble came up, I asked another nurse who was interested in Christian Science to help me. I was instantaneously healed.
I wanted to know more of this Science which had helped me. Therefore I bought copies of the Bible and of Science and Health and began my study. I soon found that I could not mix Christian Science with materia medica and that in order to progress spiritually, one has to give up everything opposed to Truth. Therefore I took up other work.
