THE GIVING OF TESTIMONY

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, incorporated the giving of testimonies of healing in the procedure of the Wednesday testimony meetings of Churches of Christ, Scientist, for she well knew the importance of this activity.

Speaking of the world's need for proof of the healing power of the Christ, Mrs. Eddy writes on page 570 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the textbook of Christian Science: "Millions of unprejudiced minds—simple seekers for Truth, weary wanderers, athirst in the desert—are waiting and watching for rest and drink. Give them a cup of cold water in Christ's name, and never fear the consequences." And a little further on in the same paragraph she continues, "Those ready for the blessing you impart will give thanks."

Publicly testifying to the healing efficacy of Christian Science is one of the most loving ways in which we can help our brother men. Every Wednesday, in many parts of the world, strangers are attending Christian Science services for the first time. They are seeking the cup of cold water that will give them the courage and strength to resist the temptation to believe in sin, sickness, and death and that will help them to find a hap pier, healthier, more prosperous way of life.
