GOD, THE ONLY MIND

A Fundamental teaching of Christian Science is stated in these lines from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 469): "There can be but one Mind, because there is but one God; and if mortals claimed no other Mind and accepted no other, sin would be unknown. We can have but one Mind, if that one is infinite."

Since Mind is God, Mind is infinite, eternal, supreme, allknowing, and expresses itself in perfect, spiritual ideas. The highest manifestation, the highest idea of Mind, is man. We read in the Bible (Gen. 1:27), "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him."

However, there seems to be a mythical creation claiming to result in many minds, capable of knowing good and evil. Material sense, mortal mind, claims that intelligence is confined to a mass of matter called brain. Christian Science teaches that mortal mind is a supposition, a counterfeit of the divine Mind, and has no real existence.
