THE TRUE STATUS OF MAN
When the Psalmist of old sang (Ps. 8:4), "What is man, that thou art mindful of him?" he posed a question which has echoed down the ages. Mankind is still asking, "Who am I?" or, "Whence came I?"
In Christian Science, the religion discovered and founded by Mary Baker Eddy, many have gained a full and satisfying answer to these questions. The true answer is found in one's learning of and understanding the real nature of man, the incorporeal image and likeness of God, Spirit.
Mankind has been taught for centuries to accept an interpretation of man's origin and destiny based wholly upon the fallacious premise that a material body and a human mind constitute man's real being. Because mankind has believed so thoroughly in the theory of a material universe and a mortal man, it has been difficult for the individual to glimpse the eternal fact that man in his real nature is not limited to a temporal span of life bounded by human birth and death.
