Over a period of years, testimonies...

Over a period of years, testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel have been a source of much inspiration and help to me. I should be ungrateful if I did not add mine.

Some years ago, while serving as an usher in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I allowed wrong thinking to come into my consciousness in the form of personal criticism. Almost immediately I was seized with chills. I had to give up my ushering post and seat myself in the last row. However, the symptoms became so aggravated that before the close of the service I had to leave the church and go home.

I was barely able to drive my car the distance of five miles. I tried to do prayerful work en route and continued doing so after my arrival home. We had invited guests for dinner, and they were to accompany us on an automobile ride in the afternoon. The prayerful metaphysical work done by another member of my family and by myself was so thorough and effective that when the guests arrived, I met them at the door. I served them at the table, and during the afternoon I did all of the driving on a long, pleasant trip. I was healed, and the difficulty did not return; and I learned that I must not criticize others, not even to myself.

One winter recently upon arriving in a southern city for a vacation, I could not stand on my feet without being supported because of extreme dizziness. When we had found a place to stay, I was helped into the room and immediately dropped down on the bed. My wife telephoned to a practitioner, whose name was listed in the Journal. Within thirty minutes I was able to finish unpacking the luggage, and I spent much time in reading Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy as well as some of the Christian Science periodicals we had brought along.

The next day I was happy to be able to attend the testimony meeting in a nearby branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and to testify. There was no interruption of any kind to our vacation plans, and there has been no recurrence of the complaint.

Our son served four years in the United States Air Force as a pilot, and two of these years were in Europe. He was divinely protected throughout his service. I have found Christian Science a very present help in everyday affairs. I have complete confidence in its ability to solve business problems, some of which have seemed very difficult. Whatever measure of success I have had in business, I attribute to the application of this Science.

I am very grateful for this religion, which is available to all of us at any time and anywhere. Christian Science has established harmonious conditions in our home, and through its study the members of our family have manifested good health. I am grateful to God for membership in The Mother Church and in a local branch church and for class instruction.—Charles A. Jennings, Mishawaka, Indiana.
