About twenty-six years ago we had lost everything we owned, and I was without work. Our next-door neighbor was a Christian Scientist, and her small son took one of our sons to Sunday School. Soon all four of our children were regularly attending the Sunday School. The things that they were learning were of such interest that I began to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Through the reading of this book, I was healed of the tobacco habit of long standing.

I then began a regular study of the Bible Lessons, given in the Christian Science Quarterly. As a result of applying what I was learning, a position which was to have been temporary became a permanent one, and soon I was called back to employment for which I was trained.

More recently my wife and I and two of our grandchildren were visiting my son while he was in the Air Force. Our son drove us to Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico, and when we were driving back to the Air Force base three boys drove their car onto the highway directly in front of us. I saw that we could not avoid a collision. Whereas at one time this would have angered me, now with my understanding of Christian Science, I instantly declared God's ever-presence and man's unity with Him and included the three boys, as well as ourselves, in my prayer.
