SPEAK UP!

In the Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, there is a period for the giving of experiences, testimonies, and remarks on Christian Science by members of the congregation. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of this Science, provided for these meetings because she recognized their importance.

The public expression of gratitude is important for two reasons. It is a vital part of the feast provided for those who come to the Wednesday meetings to be spiritually fed, encouraged, and inspired. But the giving of testimonies is likewise of great value to those who give them.

"Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house," we read in Malachi (3:10). Are we expecting to receive a blessing from the church service and yet failing to contribute our own spiritual tithe? If we neglect, month after month, to add our expression of gratitude to the other testimonies given, we are missing the opportunity of sharing our treasures of joy, gratitude, and inspiration.
