Signs of the Times

Spectator

Rev. J. H. Ferris in the Spectator Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

In any conception of God's will and God's laws, we must never forget that it is the will of and they are the laws of God our Father who made us and loves us. He only, in the truest sense, knows what is good for us. In God's will and in obedience to God's laws lies man's good. It can be nowhere else....

God made you and God made me. Apart from God's will and God's laws we cannot even pretend to know how our lives should he lived.... From moment to moment we depend upon Him for our very being. He made us and He sustains us and we can look nowhere else or to no one else for a will to influence our wills or for laws to govern our motives and actions. If we do, it will be to our detriment and not to our good.
