In humble gratitude to our Father-Mother God for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and for Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, I offer this testimony. Mrs. Eddy says on page 417 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, "Maintain the facts of Christian Science,—that Spirit is God, and therefore cannot be sick; that what is termed matter cannot be sick; that all causation is Mind, acting through spiritual law." This statement has proved helpful to me many times when aggressive mental suggestion has tempted me to accept disease as real.

When I was a very small child, I had scarlet fever, and rheumatism was one of the complications which followed. My mother was told that I would never be quite free from this disease. Down through the years I suffered during the cold winter months.

I had been reading the textbook for about two months when I suddenly realized that I was perfectly free from rheumatism. The doctors had told my mother that a dry climate would be helpful, but this healing took place while I was living only three blocks from the ocean. I was so grateful for this new-found freedom that I went to the Reading Room and obtained a Christian Science Quarterly and began at once to study the Lesson-Sermons.
