"SERVE THE LORD WITH GLADNESS"

WE cannot truly serve God without serving our fellow men. And how can we best serve our fellow men? By seeing them as actually God's own perfect image and likeness.

Real service is learning that God's law is supreme; it is being obedient to this law and recognizing only the Father's divine will; it is subjugating any belief of personal sense and of a personal will of our own. Real serving is not servility or mere subservience to another's wishes; it is the reflection of God's essential qualities in every duty before us. "Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men" (Col. 3:23).

One of the noblest desires that we can entertain is to serve the Cause of Christian Science, for is not serving our beloved Cause paramount to our highest sense of serving God? There are many ways in which we can serve in establishing the kingdom of heaven on earth. In the Manual of The Mother Church, our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes (Art. VIII, Sect. 15), "God requires our whole heart, and He supplies within the wide channels of The Mother Church dutiful and sufficient occupation for all its members."
