My sister presented Christian Science to me. After reading the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I realized that this was the truth which I had been seeking. Our little girl had recently passed on, and through my study of Christian Science I was healed of grief.

One time while I was getting dinner some hot fat splashed on my hand. The thought came clearly, Why don't you use Christian Science and prove what you have learned? Obeying this angel thought, "the scientific statement of being" from the textbook came to me. The first sentence reads (p. 468), "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter." The pain ceased, and the burn healed in a short time.

When pruning a climbing rose I was on a stepladder, and as I was coming down from the ladder, I did not step on the last step. This made me fall to the concrete walk. As I fell, my thought turned to this verse from the Bible (Hebr. 4:12): "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even tothe dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." I did not feel as if I were falling, and there were no injurious aftereffects.
