At one time I had an external...
At one time I had an external growth. It grew until it was about the size of a hen's egg. About this time I had what I believed to be an opportunity to change my position to what appeared to be a better one. I was introduced to the other firm by a business acquaintance and good friend.
After a few interviews I heard no more from the prospective firm. I became critical and a little resentful of my business friend, thinking that if he had wanted to, he could have used his influence to obtain the position for me.
Every time I thought of this friend, I became more resentful. Then I found that I was getting into arguments with people I had always found friendly before. This brought me up with a shock. I realized that when we indulge wrong thinking about one person, we in effect include others and ourselves.
