My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science was made through a healing of grief caused by the death of a loved one who had been involved in an accident. So great was my need for a better explanation of man's relationship to God that I turned away from the teachings of the orthodox church I had attended since childhood when the only answer to my question, "Why?" was the assertion that the accident was "God's will."

A beloved friend whom I met in college spoke to me of Christian Science and showed me the passage in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" where Mrs. Eddy writes (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."

I immediately said, "If this is what your religion teaches, I want to know more of it." Subsequently my sense of grief was healed, and in the years that followed, divine Love, as explained in Christian Science, has met my every need.
