Although I have taken advantage of the privilege accorded students of Christian Science to express gratitude at Wednesday evening testimony meetings, for one who has been blessed so greatly by this Science, I have waited an incredibly long time to contribute this testimony to our periodicals.

In 1934, while I was yet a beginner in the study of Science, the combination of an unwise move in the stock market and declining profits from the small business in which I was engaged forced me to abandon this enterprise and to seek a position in order to support my family.

I was heavily in debt. The amount was so large that it caused the attorney whose counsel I sought to recommend that I go into bankruptcy. The Christian Science practitioner to whom I appealed for help took the position that through reliance on prayer the bills could be paid. His encouraging statement from the Bible (Matt. 19:26), "With God all things are possible," lifted me above despair. I called on each creditor and assured him that if he would be patient, I would pay in full; and I began at once to seek a position.
