Since childhood I was an eager student of the Bible, especially the New Testament. My desire was to find a religion which not only taught but accomplished the works of Christ Jesus. One day Christian Science was called to my attention by a friend who invited me to accompany her to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist; this I did only to please her. The following Sunday I went to the service desiring to hear what kind of preaching would be given. The Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly was on "Christ Jesus." For the first time in my life I felt an unspeakable joy for having found a practical religion, explaining how to do the works of our great Master.

From that day twenty-one years ago I have been a student of Christian Science and a regular attendant at both Sunday and Wednesday services.

A few months after I began this study I was well rewarded by an instantaneous healing of chronic tonsillitis, bronchitis, laryngitis, constipation, and rheumatism of almost fifteen years' standing. All of these ills vanished in one night through the realization of the truths contained in "the scientific statement of being," given on page 468 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which begins with these words: "There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter."
