RADIO PROGRAM No. 268 - Footsteps Out of Grief

Speaker: It's a comforting, strengthening experience to learn to turn away from grief to the joyous certainty that Life is eternal, that God's love is unchanging, that it's always present everywhere. Our guest learned this step by step, and she's going to tell us how she overcame the different phases of grief. Now we're going to hear from Mrs. Charlotte Day of St. Louis, Missouri. When was it, Mrs. Day, that this happened?

Mrs. Day: It was during World War II, when we received word that our son had been killed. He was in training in the Army Air Corps. He'd recently been home on short furlough, and it was a great shock to us when the Chaplain telephoned the news from the airfield.

I knew that Life is God; Life is eternal, and it goes on forever. You see, I'd been brought up in Christian Science, and so had my family, and we all loved its teachings. I'd been wonderfully comforted some years before by these teachings at the passing of my parents, because I'd realized then that Life is continuous. So I just had to prove it again in this experience with my son. My husband also was clearly convinced, and so was our daughter, that Life is eternal.
