OUR COMMON HERITAGE
It is recorded in the Bible that the early Christians "were together, and had all things common" (Acts 2:44). They sold their individual possessions to help those who were in need, gathered daily in the temple in Christian unity and affection, and praised God for His good gifts.
All men today have a common heritage, one that, when recognized and demonstrated, will unite them in one grand brotherhood of peace, prosperity, and good will. Our common heritage is revealed in Christian Science.
This Science teaches that God, Spirit, is the Father and Mother of all; it teaches that man includes the entire family of God's ideas, His sons and daughters, wholly spiritual. Their common heritage is set forth by the Apostle Paul in the following statement (Rom. 8:16, 17): "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ."
