REQUISITE ACADEMICS

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Today's world badly needs the highest type of men and women —persons who are morally, spiritually, and intellectually alert and progressive. Specifically, the world needs Christianly scientific thinkers: those who see through the erroneous nature of limited material concepts to the higher understanding of God and all that He creates as divinely perfect.

One of the orderly steps toward achieving this height of spiritual perception is through academic education, for such training serves to discipline thinking. It enlarges one's mental horizon and prepares the mental soil for growth of fruitful ideas. It prepares the student for some field of human endeavor into which he can bring his understanding of Christ, Truth, thereby overcoming seeming limitations that have been hindering progress in that particular field of study.

Does not academic training, thus seen, fall into line with Christ Jesus' injunction (Matt. 5:16), "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven"?
