Seek ye first the kingdom of...
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matt. 6:33). The truth of these words of Christ Jesus has been proved to me.
Early in 1949 when I first heard of Christian Science, I had been ill and unable to earn a living for five years. I was suffering from numerous ailments, and the doctors had given me no hope of recovery. Able to walk only with the aid of a cane, I had been declared totally-disabled by the Board of Health.
My wife and I had lost all we had, our home and our place of business. However, I had become reconciled to this loss. I longed only for peace. My only desire was to come nearer to God and to understand better all being. I often read the Bible; but I did not make much progress in my study of it, for I was too greatly hampered by material thinking with its ifs and buts.
