RADIO PROGRAM No. 199 - Protection from Accidents

Speaker: At times we all have to overcome fears about our personal safety or the safety of those we love. This program will show how these fears may be eliminated. First, I'd like you to meet a man from Beverly Hills, California, who experienced remarkable protection while in the armed services. This is Russell Luerssen. Tell us your experience now, Mr. Luerssen.

Mr. Luerssen: During World War II, I had many proofs of God's protection while I was in the service. One of them stands out to me.

After a severe storm out in the Pacific in which our three seaplanes were damaged on the deck of the battleship "Iowa," we were ordered by the Admiral to get a scouting plane in flying condition as soon as possible. Out of the three disabled planes, my crew managed to salvage enough to rebuild one plane. But before it could be properly tested for flight, I was ordered onto the catapult with it. A catapult is a mechanical device for shooting a plane into the air from a ship that is under way.
