I am extremely grateful for all...

I am extremely grateful for all that Christian Science has brought into my life and especially for the definition of God as both Father and Mother.

When my father passed on in my infancy, my mother, a singer, came to America from England, to fill an engagement. Through unexpected events, we remained separated until I finished school. During that difficult period my mother turned to Christian Science for help and learned to entrust me to the care of the Father-Mother God. The results were such that more strangers wanted to "father" me and "mother" me than a child could possibly "adopt." Though there were no visible funds for my education, scholarships which had been unknown to us came to the rescue, providing tuition and money for other school expenses.

Knowing nothing of Christian Science myself, I became a teenage atheist, rebelling against church attendance and against scholastic teachings concerning such things as the Trinity and the identifying of Jesus with God. No one, not even a kind minister, could explain these matters to my satisfaction.
