REJOICE ALWAYS

When the sky is overcast, the sun seems to be gone, but we know that it is only temporarily hidden behind clouds and that when the clouds either dissolve or move away, the sun will reappear. The same is true when mortal mind seems to obscure the light of Truth and Love behind clouds of inharmonious thinking.

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 377), "If grief causes suffering, convince the sufferer that affliction is often the source of joy, and that he should rejoice always in ever-present Love." When we remember to "rejoice always in ever-present Love," even in the face of seemingly inharmonious conditions, we find that our gratitude and our conviction of divine Love's presence bring healing. Often this result is instantaneous.

If, however, a healing is slow, it may be due to some erroneous thought that we are clinging to. Undesirable traits of character, such as fear, self-pity, self-righteousness, self-justification, ingratitude, and impatience, need to be uncovered and cast out of consciousness to make room for the loving, Christlike thoughts which heal.
