"I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me" (Dan. 4:2). While carrying water for my horse, which was grazing on some lush grassland, I took a short cut which led me over some rusty barbwire. A barb cut my leg, piercing a blood vessel, and I lost a great deal of blood very quickly. For the moment I was filled with apprehension, and I wondered whether the rusty wire might be dangerous. I at once denied the erroneous thought, washed my leg, and told no one of the incident.

A week passed, and as usual I did a great deal of walking, but I felt no discomfort. Then I went on my vacation, and during the trip, which covered about eight hundred miles, I began to feel pain whenever I did any walking. I did not mention this fact to those with me, but tried to realize the absolute truth.

When we reached our destination it was dark, and no one noticed how difficult it was for me to walk. Joy and gratitude had been with me during entire trip. However, the next day it was evident that blood poisoning had set in. I could not get up, and I was in such great pain that it was impossible for me to direct my thoughts aright.
