What wonderful things have...

What wonderful things have been wrought for me and mine through Christian Science! Although I had been aware of this scientific religion since early childhood, its teachings were not fully appreciated or studied until, after five years of marriage, my husband and I were told it was unlikely we would ever have any children. This verdict was given after I had had several years of medical treatment, which followed a major operation. Two miscarriages presented added evidence that the gloomy prognostication was correct.

"Man's extremity is God's opportunity," it is said, and so it proved in our experience. A friend who is a Christian Science practitioner was called, and with her loving help I took up the earnest study of Science. In what a beautiful and orderly fashion events then unfolded! Many problems resulting from wrong thinking were slowly but definitely eradicated as faith in and understanding of God's all-embracing love was gained. Freedom from the smoking and social drinking habits came without any specific work on my part. The taste for night life also vanished at the same time.

When parenthood was near, we felt it was proper for us to have a home of our own, and a consecrated study of the spiritual meaning of home was undertaken. Of special comfort and promise was Jesus' saying (John 14:2): "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." It became clear to us that man's home is always at hand; we have but to claim it. Four months before the birth of our first daughter, we moved into our own home.
