Christian Science came into my experience through copies of the periodicals sent to me at a time when I was in great need of healing. In our home we were all active workers in an orthodox church, and the literature was at first ignored and destroyed. But as it kept coming to me. I finally began to read it. I was amazed to find it the purest statement of Christian faith I had ever read.

I had been compelled to stop attending school because of prolonged sickness, and my entire education had been frequently interrupted by illness. My mother too had struggled with ill-health. She wore glasses at all times and had just been told by an eminent eye specialist that it was simply a matter of time until her eyesight would be completely lost. Whenever she traveled, she suffered from car sickness. We were both sickly, full of fears, and discouraged.

Together we sought out a Christian Science practitioner, purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to study the Bible in the light of Truth's revelation as we had never studied before. Through this study and the loving help of the practitioner, we made demonstrations of God's power, and a new understanding of health and well-being began to be established in our experiences. My mother was healed very soon of the need of wearing glasses, as well as of car sickness, goiter, and other ailments.
