Many blessings have come to me...

Many blessings have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science, but for none am I more grateful than for the priceless privilege of seeing limitation overcome and the divine law of supply unfolded in the building of a Christian Science church. When a young student, I became a member of a branch church which was preparing to build a new church edifice. The beautiful way in which this was accomplished has never ceased to be an inspiration to me. Witnessing Truth in operation in that church changed my whole outlook on life.

The task appeared to me to be a tremendous one, and I wondered how that membership could possibly raise the large amount necessary to complete the structure. It was a revelation to me to see the work approached with complete trust in God as the infinite source of all good. There was never a doubt that God would supply every needful thing.

It was pointed out that steel and bricks and mortar were not of first importance and that these things would be added as we individually held to and reflected the Christ, Truth, and rejected every material sense suggestion of fear and limitation. As the plan unfolded, I began to understand better Mrs. Eddy's definition of "Church," which reads in part (Science and Health, p. 583), "The structure of Truth and Love." Encouraged and inspired by the example of other members, I found myself pledging sums to the building fund which under other circumstances might have appeared impossible of fulfillment. Not once did the necessary supply fail to be manifested. I learned that "giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us" (ibid., p.79). And I grew in the realization of the ever-presence and power of God.
