Christian Science Groups Help and Heal

An informal group of Christian Scientists, not yet officially recognized by The Mother Church, serves a useful purpose as a forerunner of a Christian Science branch church. In many places where there are no Christian Science churches or societies, such groups make it possible for students of this Science to attend church services. The incidents described below indicate that these groups are doing much to help and heal.

"When I came here over a year ago, as far as I know, there was no Christian Science activity at all. I studied faithfully and held to the thought that Church is an ever-present fact of being, not something that will be. Very shortly I discovered in our United States Mission mail room some copies of The Christian Science Monitor addressed to a person who I found was a Christian Scientist. Little by little, others interested in Science joined us in holding services, and now we advertise our group meetings."

"Though I have lived here for a year, I was unaware of the presence of other Christian Scientists until I met one a few weeks ago. We were led to rent premises where Christian Science services could be held and also to rent a portion of a shop window, in which we are preparing to display the Bible and 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mary Baker Eddy and information concerning our services. Furniture, books, and equipment are being purchased, and regular Sunday services, conducted in strict accordance with the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, are now being held. The specific metaphysical work which is being done here is bearing fruit."
