Quite a few years ago, when one of our little sons, a healthy, normal babe of a year old, suddenly became ill, I immediately sent for the best physician in the nearby town. The physician took one look at the babe and then advised that the child be taken immediately to a specialist. He pronounced the case a ruptured mastoid abscess. A noted surgeon began treatment for the child and continued it for two weeks. At the end of that time the child was not in the least improved, and he lay in a coma night and day.

In the meantime a relative gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I began to read it prayerfully. Everything that I read meant something to me. I felt that it was the very truth that I had always been seeking. One evening as I sat alone I asked God what Christian Science could do. I was answered in an unmistakable way. I was shown that Christian Science could heal the babe. It was revealed to me that God's child had never been sick, was not sick now, and never could be sick. I was at perfect peace; I calmly went upstairs to bed and slept all night.

The next morning I took the child to the surgeon and said: "Examine him. He is well." He took the little one and thoroughly examined him. Then he said: "Yes, he is well. You do not have to bring him back here any more."
