"GOING HOME"

Every individual in his heart of hearts is at times homesick for heaven. A child in its distress calls out instantly for its mother. Each one of us longs for a permanent sense of security that only the understanding of God in Christian Science can bring. There are many who have a longing for a home, a place to call their own, and sometimes this longing seems in vain.

In a book entitled "Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait" by Lyman P. Powell (1950 Edition), it is recorded that one day Mrs. Eddy said to some of her students (p. 220): "Home is not a place. It is a power. Going home is doing right."

Mrs. Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 254), "Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God." Then we may say that home and heaven are synonymous.
