DIVINE MIND VERSUS MORTAL MIND
Mary Baker Eddy writes in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 216): "Spirituality lays open siege to materialism. On which side are we fighting?" The Master, Christ Jesus, understood and demonstrated for humanity the results of remaining on the side of the one divine Mind, God. With certainty he knew that all things are possible to God and that mankind's power lies in standing steadfast in its trust in the supremacy of this Mind.
Christian Science, which is in conformity with the words and works of Christ Jesus, teaches us how to array ourselves on the side of divine Mind. The supposed force which tries to oppose Truth and which claims that life, substance, and intelligence are in matter, Mrs. Eddy calls error or mortal mind. Jesus spoke of evil thus (John 8:44): "When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
