"LIKE A MIGHTY ARMY"

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Young people who have been brought up in Christian Science homes and who attend the Sunday School of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, sometimes ask the question, "Why should I join The Mother Church?" This is a query to which some logical and convincing replies can be given. Let us start our discussion by a series of questions.

Have you ever asked yourself how there happened to be in your neighborhood a Christian Science church with public services and a Sunday School which you could attend? And have you ever wondered who is responsible for the publication of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, a book which has no doubt brought you help and healing on many occasions? And do you know where our Christian Science periodicals come from: The Christian Science Journal, reaching us monthly; the Christian Science quarterly, which supplies us with a weekly Bible Lesson for our study; the Christian Science Sentinel, published every week; The Herald of Christian Science; and our great daily newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor?

If from time to time you have attended Christian Science lectures where inspiring practical discussions of Christian Science were presented, have you ever asked yourself how The Christian Science Board of Lectureship happened to be and who is responsible for it? Have you stopped to consider who authorizes people to be Christian Science practitioners, those good friends who stand ready to help us by day or by night in time of need? You have probably heard about teachers of Christian Science, who yearly hold classes and also association meetings of all their students. Do you know who selects them and gives them their degrees as teachers?
