DETECT, REJECT, CORRECT

Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 447): "Expose and denounce the claims of evil and disease in all their forms, but realize no reality in them. A sinner is not reformed merely by assuring him that he cannot be a sinner because there is no sin. To put down the claim of sin, you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin and so prove its unreality. The sick are not healed merely by declaring there is no sickness, but by knowing that there is none."

There are three key steps in these instructions: detect the claim of sin, remove the mask, point out the illusion. Or to state it briefly: detect, reject, correct.

Any problem that seems to confront us is due to a mistaken concept of God's perfect creation. When we understand God, good, to be the only cause, we find that the effect can only be Godlike and good. Christ Jesus promised (John 14:12), "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."
