REPEALING MATTER'S FABULOUS LAWS

Two thousand years ago there lived an individual so conscious of the reality and naturalness of the law of Mind, God, that he annulled the effects of every belief in matter as a law or as a lawgiver. Walking on the water was no miracle to Christ Jesus, for he recognized that matter is not substance and that spiritual power effectively supports every right activity. A closed door was no barrier to him who knew that matter has no permanent shape or form, but is constituted of human belief, without actuality or validity.

Healing the blind, the dumb, the lame, the sick, presented no problem to the Master, for his concept of man was so dematerialized, so spiritualized, that it instantly annulled matter's fabulous laws or forces which claim to create and maintain life, and health was restored to the human body. The law of death he proved to be wholly fictitious through his realization that Life is God and that man's identity is the emanation of Spirit and is never determined by physicality. No display of matter ever awed or dismayed Jesus, for he was influenced only by the Christ-spirit, which governed him, and he acknowledged as law only that which expresses the divine and perfect.

Such mighty works are the natural expression of true spirituality. Jesus said that they are possible to all who follow him as the Way-shower. His tender words recorded in John's Gospel glow with the assurance of eternal Truth (14:12), "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." There was no magic involved in these works, but there was a Science, which in the fullness of time was divinely revealed and presented to mankind.
