Christian Science came to me at a time when I was seeking and longing for a better understanding of God. Although I had always loved the Bible, and particularly the teachings of Jesus, yet I was not aware of the demonstrable nature of the Christ, Truth, which heals and regenerates, as we are taught in Christian Science. I shall always be grateful to the loving friends who encouraged me to study this wonderful Science and to prove for myself Jesus' promise (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Over ten years ago I was healed of the need of wearing glasses, and for this healing I am very grateful. It came about through reading the textbook, Science and Health, in which Mrs. Eddy defines "eyes" in part as, "Spiritual discernment,— not material but mental" (p. 586).

While I was endeavoring to discontinue the use of medicines and to give up the habits of smoking and social drinking, I experienced a wonderful and inspiring consciousness of God's ever-presence and power to heal. Also I saw something of man's true relationship to God, as stated in the Bible (I John 3:2), "Beloved, now are we the sons of God." Freedom from ills and from the false habits followed, and I greatly rejoice.
