TRUE CONSCIOUSNESS

"The kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:21). This statement of the Master's implies that everything is mental and that heaven is a divine state of consciousness, the eternal harmony of being. Since Mind is divine Spirit, everything is in reality divinely, or spiritually, mental. Health, then, is a spiritual state. We gain true health by rising above belief in matter. As long as we believe in matter or corporeality, we cannot demonstrate real health, holiness. Our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, tells us (Miscellaneous Writings, p.309), "Corporeal falsities include all obstacles to health, holiness, and heaven."

True consciousness, not matter, constitutes one's life. It is helpful to study the word "consciousness" with the aid of the Concordances to Mrs. Eddy's writings. As we do this, we understand why heaven, harmony, is within us.

Believing in the reality of material personalities, the material world, and the material body, we are not conscious of the control of Mind, Spirit. We must consider everything from the standpoint of consciousness. We see that the perfect Mind is the source and condition of all real existence; that, therefore, in reality being is entirely harmonious and spiritual.
