About eight or nine years ago I started to have trouble with one of my ears. The trouble grew worse, the hearing became affected, and I grew deaf in both ears. I could not tell what was said to me unless the speaker stood right in front of me and only a few feet away, and even then I had to do a little lip reading. For many months at the branch church of which I was a member, I heard nothing whatever of the services except the music.

I had help from Christian Science practitioners at different times, but it was evident to me that there was something that I myself had to do. I started by realizing that God made man in His own image and likeness and that since He is Spirit, man must be spiritual. Since God is the all-hearing Mind, He hears perfectly, and man must also hear perfectly. Further, since God does not hear with physical ears, man does not hear with physical ears. True hearing is a faculty of Mind, indestructible, and unimpairable.

I thought along these lines ever so many times each day, and gradually the hearing improved until at last it was completely normal. This healing took place over four years ago and has been permanent. I know that the work done by the various practitioners all had its share in the healing, and I am grateful to them for it, but my own thought had to be cleared before the demonstration of freedom could finally be made.
