Through Christian Science I was...

Through Christian Science I was completely healed of chronic alcoholism. Prior to my healing I was in and out of numerous hospitals, jails, and other institutions over a period of thirty years. I was pronounced an incurable chronic alcoholic by a staff of thirteen doctors, and for years I lived up to that description. When Christian Science came into my life, however, I knew that I would be healed.

One night after my release from a state hospital, where I had been confined four times in one year, I felt prompted to kneel and pray. The words came, "God, just make me a good man." I did not request to be healed of anything. From that time on I had no desire for alcohol, and one day all at once the thought came, "I am healed." I hung on to that thought, and I have never since had a drink or any desire to have one. I might add that I am now married, and I have my own home. I am steadily employed and well thought of in the community in which I live.

Since my healing, Christian Science has been my daily guide, and I gratefully acknowledge what it has done for me not only in this instance, but in all of my life in every way. Through radical reliance on Truth I experienced a healing of broken bones after being struck by a car. I was taken in an unconscious condition to an emergency hospital, where X rays were made. They showed that one arm was broken in three places and that the bones were partly crushed. When I regained consciousness, I refused all material aid and went immediately to a Christian Science Reading Room. From the pages of The Christian Science Journal I obtained the name of a practitioner, and I requested treatment in Science. The arm was quickly healed, and within a few weeks I passed a physical examination for a civil service position. The doctors told me that the arm was in good condition. I had no treatment other than Christian Science.
