"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:16). This Scriptural truth was proved to me through the loving work of a consecrated Christian Science practitioner when I was completely healed of hemorrhoids that had caused me much discomfort for eight years. This healing was a most joyous experience, and my heart overflows with gratitude for God's great love. Although the difficulty was not overcome for some time, much wrong thinking was corrected. I hope that all who have problems of long standing will do as we are told in Proverbs (3:5, 6): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 99), "Christian Science is unerring and Divine."

It is over thirty years since I began the study of Science. My daughter, who had become interested in it five years before, gave me some copies of the Sentinel. During these thirty years I have depended only on Christian Science and have had healings of sin, disease, and sorrow. Some of the healings came just through reading the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, especially Science and Health.

Some years ago I had a quick healing of my index finger, which was badly injured by the slamming of an automobile door. I was young in Science at that time, but I had been healed of severe stomach pains by declaring "the scientific statement of being" on page 468 of Science and Health. As soon as my finger was hurt, I silently declared the truth by repeating again "the scientific statement of being," while I quickly wrapped my handkerchief around the finger to hide the injury. The pain and bleeding stopped almost immediately. In a short time the finger had regained its normal appearance. That healing was a beautiful proof to me of our Father's love and allness. It makes me very happy to know that what God does for one He is willing to do for all.
