"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." That statement is an example of prayer in its most powerful form. It is what we call the prayer of affirmation. Notice —it does not beg God for something, it does not ask God to do something—it affirms a fact.

All through the Bible we find this form of prayer—"Our Father which art in heaven;" "The Lord of hosts is with us, the God of Jacob is our refuge;" "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble;" "For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting"—are further examples....
