"Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 494). These reassuring words were on the front wall of a Church of Christ, Scientist, which I began to attend at a time when I greatly needed comfort and health. I had been in and out of the hospital several times and had twice undergone surgery for a growth that appeared first on one side of my body and then on the other.

I learned of Christian Science through, a conversation with one who was not a student of this Science, but who had heard that it heals. That same day I visited a practitioner and also purchased a copy of the textbook. Science and Health. When I began to read it I knew at once that its teachings were what I really believed and had always longed for. I visited the practitioner daily until all fear of further physical disturbance was eliminated. I know now that I was healed on my first visit there, for I immediately felt that a great change had taken place.

I shall never cease to be grateful for the loving encouragement of my family, none of whom at that time were Christian Scientists. However, they knew that I needed help and that medicine had failed to relieve me of constant suffering. Every step was so harmonious and so much love was expressed by all that I knew my prayers had been answered, and I could say with Isaiah (9:2), "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined."
